Fall 2020 Registration Update - #StormActivated

Mission Statement

The Oshawa Storm Ringette Association is fully committed to getting our players back on the ice safely in a meaningful and fun way. Our #StormActivated plan will focus on player development. We will continue to work with our partners at the Durham Region Public Health Unit, the City of Oshawa, and Ringette Ontario to move through the various stages to safely and fully return to Ringette.

The Plan

  • 4-6 weeks planned at a time
  • Players placed into groups based on age, level of play in 2019-2020 and intended level of play for 2020-2021 (please note that these groupings are not “teams” and will follow the guidelines set forth by our Public Health Unit in terms of # of people allowed on the ice at a time)
  • Appx. 15-18 players per group
  • 1 hr ice sessions (weekly or twice weekly TBD)
  • Player development program designed and implemented by Oshawa Storm coaches and Player Development team with an initial focus on individual-based skills and drills
  • Sessions will include scrimmages and modified gameplay (i.e., 3 on 3) when allowed
  • Practice plans provided appx. 72 hours before an event so that players can review and understand the expectations
  • All players provided with 2 (red and black) #StormActivated practice jerseys
  • All players equipped with a #StormActivated waterbottle
  • All players and parents will participate in a virtual group meeting before the first ice session to learn about the enhanced health and safety protocols for each event, including confirming attendance, completing a COVID health screening online, and specific instructions regarding arrival and departures.

Special note to our youngest and newest Storm players and parents;

  • At this point, the information provided to us by the City of Oshawa stipulates that coaches will not be able to physically assist players (i.e learn to skate). We have purchased a number of skate assists to have available for the ice times that include our non-skaters.
  •  Additionally, we are unable at this time to confirm whether or not parents will be able to accompany their player into the rink.
  • We fully understand that under these circumstances that this may not be the best time to have your child participate in the ringette program. You may request a deferral of your registration until such time that rules and procedures are loosened. We will provide updates here and on our social media platforms.

Payment Schedule

  • $50.00 due upon registration
  •  $200.00 Monday September 14, 2020. Send e-transfers to [email protected]
  •  Please ensure that your player’s name is included in the notes.

There will be additional payments, ample notice will be provided and only required once we have a better understanding of how the season will progress.
