Provincial Gold for U16A Storm
Submitted By Oshawa Storm PR on Monday, March 18, 2019
The U16A Oshawa Storm are Provincial Champions!

Competing in the Ringette Ontario Provincial Championship in North Bay, the Storm played solid ringette all weekend finishing with a 4-0-2 record in the round robin portion of the tournament.

The gold medal game was a rematch against the Dorchester Dragons, who played the Storm to a 6-6 draw earlier in the tournament.

In an exciting back and forth game the Storm captured gold in the McCarthy division with a 6-5 overtime victory.

The team was also awarded the division’s Sportsmanship Award based on the feedback from their opponents. Success came through hard work and team play.

The Storm utilized a strong triangle and excellent goaltending to post the best goals against average in the division.

Additionally, the Storm had significant offensive contributions from all three lines. The Storm would like to thank their sponsors for the support:  The Best Team, Willowdale Engraving, Nina Romano Desjardins Insurance and REM Roofing.

Silver for U19A Storm
The U19A Storm put together a great weekend of ringette which nearly landed them Ringette Ontario gold while at the Provincial Championships in North Bay.

After storming out of the gate with three wins and a tie in their first four games of the tournament, the Storm found themselves in the division’s semifinal after losses to the London Lynx and Mitchell Stingers to close out the round robin.

In the semifinal, the Storm downed Ajax 5-3 to earn a spot in the gold medal game against Mitchell. In the end, Mitchell prevailed 7-3 to earn gold.

Up next for both the U19A and U16A teams are the Eastern Canadian Ringette Championships, which will be held in Oshawa April 18-21.
