Pair of Golden Moments in Kitchener
Submitted By Oshawa Storm PR on Monday, February 4, 2019
It was a golden weekend for a pair of Oshawa Storm teams participating in the Kitchener Golden Ring Tournament last weekend.

Both the U9 and U10 Oshawa teams captured gold in their respective divisions.

In the U9 final, Oshawa used three goals from Rebecca Bryan and two each from Lilly Tarpey and Ava Saunders-Godin to defeat the Guelph Predators 7-4.

Isla McAdam had the fans in awe with her performance between the pipes, while Csenge Laszlo showed great leadership to go with her strong defensive game in the final.

In the tournament, Tarpey netted 13 goals, while Bryan added 11. Mayci Grieve scored five times, while Makayla and Saunders-Godin added three apiece.

Makayla Brough and Gillian Missons added single tallies.

It’s the third straight gold is as many tournaments for the U9 squad.

In U10 action, the Storm got their redemption against the London Lynx.

After dropping a 7-5 decision to Lynx in round robin play on Saturday, the Storm got up early on Sunday morning to defeat the Burlington Blast to lift them into the final against London.

Ten minutes into the championship game the score remained scoreless until the Storm struck. After scoring first, there was no stopping them as they defeated London by a score of 7-1.

The Storm ‘out-hustled and out-muscled’ their opponent in the championship game, making their bench staff and parents proud.

Bunnyfest a Great Experience for U8s

The U8 Storm started the Kitchener tournament with an early game on Saturday morning against Waterloo.

Camille Mathers lead the way with two goals while Harper McAlister and Ella Brazier got one a piece.

Olivia Byrom, Keira Dewar and Brazier all contributed assists. Jackson Missons and Madison Snow both showed strong performances in net making many saves.

After the game the team participated in the tournament’s Bunnyfest where they played games, made crafts, ate pizza and received medals.

After Bunnyfest the Storm went up against Kitchener and came out on top in an 11-0 game. Callum Bruce made many great saves to earn a shutout. Adele Keeler and Dewar both netted hat tricks. Brynn MacIntyre scored two goals with single goals going to Brazier, Myla Hughes and Emily Peel who scored her first goal of the season. Byrom, McAlister, Snow, as well as Brazier, Dewar, and Keeler all contributed assists.
